On the occasion of the 86th Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and the National Day of Thailand the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kolkata hosted a Reception on 3 December 2013, at the Park Hotel Kolkata, from 7.30 pm – 11.30 pm.
A number of guests were invited from the high level officials of the West Bengal Government, Consular Corps of Kolkata, Corporate Sector, Friends of Thailand and Thai nationals in Kolkata. The evening saw a turnout of around 250 guests who were greeted with a Thai orchid upon arrival. The Chief Guest for the evening was Mr. Subrata Biswas, Secretary, Department of Agriculture, Government of West Bengal.
Following the playing of the national anthems of India and Thailand, Mr. Prasittidesh Vichitsorasatra, the Consul-General gave a welcome speech whereby he wished His Majesty a long life and good health and spoke about the good relations, in all aspects, shared between Thailand and India.
In keeping with the celebration of the birthday anniversary of His Majesty the King, the Royal Thai Consulate-General played video presentations and put up posters about the life of His Majesty and his many years of dedicated work in improving lives of the Thai people. The guests also enjoyed a variety of Thai dishes, fruits and desserts including Tom Yum Soup, Som Tam Salad, Phad Thai Noodles, Massaman Curry, Mangosteen and Coconut ice-cream prepared by the Thai Chefs at the Park Hotel.
Overall the evening was a grand success and all the guests extended their best wishes to His Majesty, King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand.
