On 7-9 August 2026, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kolkata organized the Thai Film Festival in Kolkata 2026, under the theme “Siam Symphony: A Cinematic Journey Through Time & Scenery" at Cinepolis Cinema, Acropolis Mall, Kolkata, showcasing renowned seven Thai films : (1) "Love Destiny 2" (2) "Low Season" (3) "Panyi I Sea You" (4) " Human Resource " (5) "Gohan... Go Home" (6) "Timeline - The Letter of Memory " and (7) "The Overture”. Most of the selected films feature fascinating tourist attractions that appeal to the Indian market, and also cover the themes regarding Thai society, arts, and culture.

At the Opening Ceremony on 7 August 2026, Ms. Siriporn Tantipanyathep, Consul-General of Thailand in Kolkata, welcomed over 200 distinguished guests. In her opening remarks, she highlighted the important role of Thai cinema, not only to illustrate Thai identity through history, society and culture, but also to tangibly foster people-to-people ties between Thailand and India. She also warmly invited the audiences to explore Thailand. A Tourism Authority of Thailand’s presentation and a Thai cultural performance were also featured at the Opening Ceremony, along with Thai culture-related activities and tourism information booth.
