On 28 May 2023, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kolkata organized a ceremony to celebrate the Occasion of His Holiness Somdet Phra Ariyavongsagatayana the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand’s 96th Birthday Anniversary and a ceremony on Vesak Day Celebration at Wat Thai Gayaviriya Temple, Kolkata. The Ceremony was well attended by senior Buddhist monks from various countries including Thailand, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Australia as well as 40 members of Buddhist communities.

On the same occasion, Mr.Piyapan Atipatya, Deputy Consul-General and Acting Consul-General highlighted the importance and the purpose of the said ceremony as well as emphasized the relationship between the Buddhist temple which remains at its core work of the Royal Thai consulate-General, followed by a merit-making ceremony and presented offerings to the monks.
