On 29 October 2022, Ms. Acharapan Yavaprapas, Consul-General of Thailand in Kolkata, presided over the inauguration ceremony of Thai Corner and book handover ceremony which is a part of series of activities to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Thailand as well as to celebrate “Global Media and Information Literacy Week” at Kolkata Centre for Creativity (KCC).

On this occasion, the Royal Thai Consulate-General, Kolkata handed over books about Thailand to the KCC’s library. The ceremony was co-chaired by Ms. Richa Agarwal, Chairperson of KCC and CEO of Emami Art, and joined by Ms. Reena Dewan, Director of KCC, KCC’s staff, academicians, Friends of Thailand including local press.

This initiative has been carried out under Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kolkata with the aim to forge closer ties between India and Thailand. In so doing, the setting-up of Thai Corner and handing over of a selection of Thai books at KCC library which opens for the public, would serve its purpose in expressing strong intention to achieve a better understanding of Thailand and Thainess’ origin among the people in Kolkata through books, which is in line with the objective of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand by fostering communication to connect with people.

KCC was established to serve as a multi-disciplinary art center that open the access for many young artists participating in arts, cultures, and creative projects. Currently, KCC has been actively working with various partners and collaborators such as Indian Museum, Alliance Francais, British Council, etc.
