On 4 December 2024, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kolkata hosted a reception to commemorate the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand, and Father’s Day on 5 December 2024, at The Park Hotel, Kolkata. The event was graced by Ms. Nandini Chakravorty, West Bengal Home Secretary and Tourism Secretary, as the Chief Guest. Over 200 distinguished guests attended, including members of the consular corps, representatives from Indian government and private sectors, travel associations, academic institutions, local media, Friends of Thailand, Thai students, and the Thai community in Kolkata.

On this occasion, Miss Siriporn Tantipanyathep, Consul-General of Thailand in Kolkata, delivered a speech emphasizing the significance of 5th December as a day to honor the benevolence of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great. She highlighted His Majesty’s deep care for the nation and profound impact on the Thai people through nearly 5,000 royal projects, as well as His revered role as the “Father of the Nation.” The Consul-General also praised the dedication of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua for continuing His father’s noble legacy, particularly through the Royal Initiative Volunteer Project, which fosters collaboration and unity within Thai society. She reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to further strengthening and enhancing the friendship and partnership between Thailand and India in all dimensions of cooperation, particularly in tourism, culture, and people-to-people ties. The Consul-General also underlined the deep historical and cultural connections between the two nations, with Buddhism serving as a spiritual cornerstone uniting their peoples. This was followed by a speech from the Chief Guest, who congratulated Thailand on this important day and acknowledged the growing Thailand-India cooperation under the Act East policy. The Chief Guest also emphasized the importance of Thailand as a popular tourist destination for West Bengal. The presence of the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kolkata was recognized as a welcome bridge connecting the people of Thailand with those of Eastern India.

At the event, guests enjoyed a series of captivating video presentations that highlighted Thailand’s rich heritage. These included a documentary celebrating His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's 72nd birthday, a showcase of the 2024 activities of the Royal Thai Consulate-General, a promotional video by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), and a feature on Thailand’s Soft Power initiatives by the Thailand Foundation. The evening was further enriched by a selection of authentic Thai culinary delights, including Thailand's latest UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage - 'Tom Yum Kung,' along with special desserts provided by Thai Airways International and treats sponsored by CPF India. Prominent travel associations, including the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), Skal International Kolkata (SKAL Kolkata), and the Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI), hosted a flash quiz, which received enthusiastic participation from the attendees.
