On 18 September 2026, Ms. Siriporn Tantipanyathep, Consul-General of Thailand in Kolkata, presided as the lay representative at the 100-day Meritorious Ceremony held in dedication to Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Debyavati, Princess Rajasarinisiribajra Mahavajrarajadhita, at Wat Thai Budhgaya, Bihar, India.

The solemn and sacred ceremony was presided over on the monastic side by Phra Brahmavajirabodhivong, Abbot of Wat Thai Buddhagaya and Chief of the Thai Dhammaduta Mission in India and Nepal, together with senior monks holding ecclesiastical ranks, Thai Dhammaduta monks, and monks from Thai temples across India, who jointly performed the meritorious rites with deep devotion and reverence.

On this occasion, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kolkata served as the host for the offering of lunch to the Sangha and took part in the ordination ceremony of 59 Indian novices as a meritorious offering dedicated to Her Royal Highness. The Ceremony reflected the heartfelt respect, remembrance, and profound gratitude of the Thai people for Her Royal Highness’s grace, compassion, and lifelong dedication to the service of the nation and its people.

The Ceremony was conducted in an atmosphere of tranquillity and profound faith, with the participation of the Thai monastic community in India, Thai Buddhists, and Indian devotees who gathered to pay tribute and perform meritorious deeds.

Held at Wat Thai Budhgaya, situated in Bodhgaya—the sacred land where the Lord Buddha attained Enlightenment, the ceremony carried deep spiritual significance. It represented not only an expression of devotion and remembrance but also a reflection of the enduring connection between the Thai Monarchy, Buddhism, and Thai communities abroad.

Through the observance of this meritorious ceremony at one of the most revered Buddhist sites in the world, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kolkata continues to uphold and promote the values of compassion, faith, and cultural ties that serve as a bridge connecting the peoples of Thailand and India.
