On 16 July 2022, Ms.Acharapan Yavaprapas, Consul-General of Thailand in Kolkata attended as Chief Guest at the Opening Ceremony of International Performing Arts Festival (IPAF) Kolkata 2022 at Indian Museum Auditorium in Kolkata. The said festival was co-organized by IPAF and Indian Museum during 16 – 17 July 2022, which aims to provide a platform that brings traditional performing arts actors from various countries.

On the same occasion, Consul-General was invited to deliver her speech at the opening ceremony. She highlighted the long-standing relations between Thailand – India which this year is very momentous to celebrate its 75th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Thailand and India. The close tie between the two countries was reflected well in cultural roots which Thailand has been influenced by Indian culture in many ways such as linguistics (Sanskrit and Pali), Thai epic of Ramakien as well as Thai cultural festivals of Songkran and Loy Krathong which are inspired by Holi and Diwali. In this regard, Consul-General reaffirmed the readiness to work with Indian Museum and IPAF, which play a crucial role in promoting and preserving culture and national heritage and strengthening people-to-people bond through numerous cultural-related activities.

IPAF is an autonomous body that works dedicatedly to support and preserve traditional arts in various forms, particularly performing arts. Every year, IPAF, in collaboration with public agencies, has organized cultural festivals in different state capitals in India, cultural-rich cities, and foreign countries. In 2022 and 2023, IPAF plans to organize cultural festivals across the globe such as in Dublin, London, Singapore, Sweden, Moscow, and Dubai.
