On 29-30 March 2013, The Royal Thai Consulate General in Kolkata organised “Destination Thailand 2013” at Hotel the Park, Kolkata.

                    On 29 March 2013, Mr. Prasittidesh Vichitsorasatra, Consul General of Thailand in Kolkata gave an opening speech to the crowd of dignitaries comprising high raking officials of the government of West Bengal, the government of the Union Territory of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, military eastern command chief of protocol,  foreign consul generals, honorary consuls, media and et cetera.

                    The Consul General mentioned about the increasing number of foreign tourists visiting Thailand including Indians who accounted for over a million tourists in 2012. The Thai classical dance troupe for the event was flown in directly from Thailand. The guests  also enjoyed Thai fruits, especially Thai mangosteen, and Thai food cooking demonstrations especially stir fried Thai asparagus with shrimps.

                   On 30 March 2013, guests comprised of businessmen both Indian and Thai, media people, and “Friends of Thailand”.

                  On both days the event ran successfully, all guests enjoyed watching the Thai classical dances, tasting Thai mangosteen and asparagus and Thai beffet dinner prepared by Thai chefs of  The Park Hotel.
