Consul General in Kolkata Opens Arts Exhibition in Santiniketan

On 21 January 2012, Mr Prasittidesh Vichitsorasatra, Consul-General of Thailand in Kolkata, Mr. Sukoom Somprasonk, Deputy Consul General and Mr. Monton Wonglert, Consul, visited Santiniketan, to open an art exhibition “Art Camp” organized by Visva-BharatiUniversity. At the event, there were several Indian artists, including  Mr. Jogen Chowdhury. The event was also participated by two National Artists of Thailand and some prominent art academicians from Burapha University, including the dean of the faculty of fine and applied arts.

Addressing to the gathering, Mr. Vichitsorasatra said that he was honoured to be invited to open the “Art camp” organized by the Visva-Bharati University which was established by the prominent Indian Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore.  He mentioned that Thailandand Indian have had long time cultural relations dating back some thousand years ago. Nowadays, the two countries enjoy strong bilateral relations in various aspects including tourism and trade and investment.
