On 25 June 2026, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kolkata, in collaboration with Wat Thai Bodhgaya, organized a merit-making ceremony dedicated to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother. The occasion also marked the 15-day memorial merit-making rite (Pannarasamavara) in dedication to Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati, Kromluang Rajasarinisiribajra Mahavajrarajadhita, in reverent remembrance of Their immeasurable grace, compassion, and benevolence.
On this occasion, Ms. Siriporn Tantipanyathep, Consul-General in Kolkata, lit incense and candles in homage to the Triple Gem and paid royal tribute. She also led officials of the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kolkata in participating in the merit-making ceremony at Wat Thai Bodhgaya via video conference. The ceremony included the chanting of Buddhist scriptures by 10 Thai monks and 10 international monks.
The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kolkata also hosted a luncheon offering to the monastic community. Mr. Chaipol Sukeiam, Director-General of the Department of Religious Affairs and Acting Consul-General, together with officials from the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Mumbai, participated in the ceremony and joined in the merit-making observance to pay their respects and honor the occasion.
