On 4 December 2023, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kolkata hosted a reception commemorating three auspicious occasions on the 5th December: the Birthday of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand, and Thailand's Father's Day at The Park, Kolkata. The reception was graced by Mr.Avanindra Singh, IAS, Secretary, Fisheries Department, Government of West Bengal, as the Chief Guest. The reception drew approximately 200 attendees, including members of the Consular Corps, representatives from the public and private sectors, academic institutions, media, friends of Thailand, and Thai Nationals residing in Kolkata.

On this occasion, Mr. Piyapan Atipatya, Acting Consul-General of Thailand in Kolkata, delivered a speech emphasizing the importance of three auspicious occasions, especially in remembrance of King Rama IX. He highlighted His Majesty’s legacy and commitment to Thailand’s national development through various royal projects dedicated to achieving sustainability and enhancing the quality of life for the Thai people. He also reiterated Thailand’s commitment to further strengthen and foster friendship and cooperation Thailand-India at all forms, including the consulate’s activities to promote cooperation in various aspects. This was followed by the speech by Mr. Avanindra Singh, highlighting the longstanding relations between Thailand and India and expressing India’s expressing the determination to foster closer cooperation with Thailand in areas of mutual interest.

At the event, the guests had a pleasure of viewing video presentation about the Consulate-General’s activities throughout the year, tourism promotion by Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the art of Thai dance by Thailand foundation. To complement the evening, a diverse array of Thai cuisine was served, featuring a specially-curated menu by a Thai home cook, namely, “Thai Style Prawn Puchka”, a fun fusion of Thai and Indian snacks, along with treats from CPF India. To sweeten the reception, a dessert menu specially crafted for Thailand’s Father's Day were served called “Banana Cake with Crème Brûlée” supported by Thai Airways.
