On 18 March 2025, Ms. Siriporn Tantipanyathep, Consul-General of Thailand in Kolkata, in collaboration with Wat Pa Donkasiri, handed over medical supplies and essential items to underprivileged children in Larpur Tola, Bodhgaya. This initiative is part of the Consulate-General's CSR program, "We Do Good Deeds by Our Heart," inspired by the Royal Initiative of His Majesty the King of Thailand. Its mission is to improve the livelihoods of local communities, particularly in remote and underserved areas of Bodhgaya, through food, education, Dhamma studies, and fostering the bond of friendship between Thailand and India.
During the ceremony, the Consul-General donated a medicine cabinet stocked with essential non-prescription medications and first-aid supplies. Around 300 children from the local community attended the event at Wat Pa Donkasiri, where they also participated in tree and flower planting activities to improve the local environment. Additionally, food items and other critical supplies were provided to malnourished children, supporting their physical and cognitive development and helping lay the foundation for a healthier future.
In a heartfelt gesture of appreciation, the children performed traditional dances to express their gratitude to the Consul-General and the Chief Abbot for their generous support. This initiative embodies the spirit of "Public Diplomacy," strengthening the ties between the people of India and Thailand, while promoting Buddhist values in a meaningful and sustainable way within the local community.
