Consul-General of Thailand in Kolkata called on Patna District Magistrate, Bihar to foster cooperation in Buddhism

On 2 July 2024, Ms. Siriporn Tantipanyathep, Consul-General of Thailand in Kolkata called on Shri Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, Patna District Magistrate during her visit to Bihar. The two sides exchanged views on ways and means to foster cooperation in Buddhism between Thailand and Patna, or previously known by its ancient name ‘Pataliputra’. Pataliputra was the capital of Moriya Empire during the reign of Emperor Ashoka the Great, who dispatched Buddhist missionary from India to Suvarnabhumi or present-day Southeast Asia. Moreover, Consul-General also paid a visit to Buddha Smriti Park (Buddha Memorial Park) and Pataliputra Karuna Stupa in Patna to promote cooperation in Buddhism.
