On August 25, 2024, a heartfelt celebration took place at Wat Thairachaduta 609 in Darjeeling. Ms. Siriporn Tantipanyathep, the Consul-General of Thailand in Kolkata, and Phrakrupalad Bodhivongworrarat, Chief Abbot of the Thai temple, came together to host a special ‘Thai Mother’s Day’ event for approximately 60 Thai students from Darjeeling’s Mount Hermon, St. Joseph's North Point, and St. Paul boarding schools.

During this touching gathering, both the Consul-General and the Chief Abbot shared inspiring messages with the students, stressing the importance of Thai cultural heritage, unity, mutual support, and national pride. Their words were further underscored by a delicious Thai lunch, providing the students with a comforting taste of home. Additionally, the students received Thai instant noodles and other essentials, aimed at offering both comfort and encouragement during their time away from home.

A social media communication group with the students has also been established to better communicate and understand their needs.
