On 12 January 2023, Mr. Piyapan Atipatya, Acting Consul-General of Thailand in Kolkata delivered welcoming remarks at the Amazing New Chapters Destination Presentation and Networking Lunch organised by Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), New Delhi Office at The Oberoi Grand, Kolkata. The event was hosted by Mrs. Siriges-A-Nong Triratanasongpol, the newly designated Director of TAT New Delhi Office and joined by local representatives of airline and hospitality industry; namely, THAI Airways International, Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts, Dusit Thani Hotels Thailand, Kata Group and Beyond Hotels, La Vida Samui Hospitality Group, Preferred Hotels and Resorts, and Cross Hotels and Resorts. More than 75 local travel agents and media participated the event.

Acting Consul-General highlighted positive developments on tourism industry in Thailand, notably the resumption of Kolkata-Bangkok flight by THAI Airways from 1 January 2023, the continuing growth of Indian tourists to Thailand which reached more than 9.6 Lakhs in 2022, and the nomination of Phuket to host the Specialised Expo 2028. Furthermore, he also updated Thailand’s latest COVID-19 related measures, which do not require arriving passengers to provide proof of vaccination, but only require passengers from countries that have restriction preventing those tested positive for COVID-19 from re-entering to have health insurance covering COVID-19 treatment during their stay in Thailand. He emphasised that the said measures are applied equally to all nationalities.

Representatives of airline and hospitality industry presented their vast array of products that suit diverse needs of each Indian traveler groups such as family, weddings, honeymooners, millennials, golfers, wellness seekers, and incentive groups. Acting Consul-General and TAT New Delhi Office Director also drew lucky draw containing accommodation vouchers from 6 participating hotel groups.
